Introduction

This Volvo B10M Mk III with Hispano Carrocera VÖV bodywork is a twelve-metre urban bus built in 1996. It belongs to the generation that broadened the use of Volvo running units among Spanish urban and interurban operators during the 1990s.

The B10M has a six-cylinder diesel engine mounted horizontally beneath the floor behind the front axle. This layout leaves both ends of the vehicle free and distributes the mechanical components along the body.

Vehicle condition

The vehicle is privately preserved by ARCA member Francisco Javier Gómez and remains operational. It is currently based in the province of Almería, which must be considered when planning events, filming or transfers.

History

The vehicle formed part of the AUVACA fleet, Autobuses Valencia-Catarroja, as number 85. Its yellow livery with AUVACA and MetroBus branding records its service in the Valencia metropolitan area.

After withdrawal from commercial service, Francisco Javier Gómez assumed responsibility for its preservation. His membership of ARCA enables the Volvo to form part of the association’s wider vehicle collection, although it is physically kept in Almería.

Its preservation extends the collection chronologically into the 1990s and represents both the Volvo B10M chassis and Hispano Carrocera VÖV bodywork, a combination used by several Spanish networks at the time.
