About us

The Associació per a la Recuperació i Conservació d’Autobusos (ARCA) works to preserve historic buses, share the history of public transport and provide a meeting place for enthusiasts.

Founded in 2003 in Sabadell, near Barcelona, ARCA brings together around eighty members of all ages who share a passion for classic buses.

Over two decades of preservation

ARCA through the years

From Sabadell, ARCA has turned a passion for buses into a collective project devoted to preservation, restoration and public engagement.

  1. ARCA is founded and its first bus arrives

    The association is established in Sabadell and takes on the Pegaso 6035/A from TMB and the UAB, the first bus to enter ARCA ownership.

  2. The first documented activities

    Surviving reports record ARCA visits and excursions from May 2004 onwards.

  3. The collection grows

    ARCA acquires the Pegaso 6035/4 Noge and takes on the Pegaso 5023/CL and 5064-A/1. ARCA member Lluís Cuesta also preserves the Pegaso 5081/1.

  4. The first Rallybus and another Pegaso

    ARCA holds the first Sabadell Rallybus and takes on TUISA’s Pegaso 5062/A, which makes its debut at the event.

  5. Further recoveries

    The Creu Coberta Retailers’ Association donates Pegaso 6038 no. 6158 to ARCA. The Pegaso 6035 known as the “Boquebús” is also recovered that year.

  6. The Pegaso 5031-L joins the collection

    Collector Francesc López transfers the coach known as “Canals” to ARCA.

  7. The first Classic Bus Rally and the prototype 6420

    The Barcelona–Caldes de Montbui gathering begins. Team JJJ, formed by three ARCA members, takes responsibility for preserving the Burgos Pegaso 6420 prototype.

  8. Two more buses to preserve

    Standard 216 transfers the Chausson-Saviem APH-522 to ARCA, while Borriana Town Council transfers the Pegaso 6038 formerly operated in Burgos.

  9. The tenth Rallybus

    The Sabadell event reaches its tenth edition, marking a decade of activities open to the public.

  10. A low-floor bus joins the collection

    After TUS withdraws vehicle 82 in 2020, ARCA preserves the Mercedes-Benz O405N2 and publicly presents it at the 2024 Rallybus.

  11. Twenty years of ARCA

    The association celebrates two decades of preserving vehicles and sharing the history of public transport.

  12. A living collection and programme

    The 16th Rallybus and new historic route recreations continue to keep this heritage moving.
