40th birthday of TMB 2011, Bus Turístic MAN SD200
ACEMA, ARCA and the TMB Foundation have once again collaborated to carry out a bus activity. The last time was on 11/23/2019 with the Foundation’s Pegaso 6420 activity (see link), and this time we have restarted Foundation’s MAN SD200 TMB 2011, which was on its 40th birthday. A long life that began in Berlin (BVG 1835) in 1981 as a covered double-decker bus. Once withdrawn from service the top deck would be opened for sightseeing services, first in Madrid, by the hand of Autobuses de Villa de Madrid, with registration M-0108-ZN and with this aspect it would be loaned to TMB in 2002, in full emergence of the Tourist Bus service. The bus would stay, however, permanently, until 2006, when it would be withdrawn from service.
InTMB it worked together with other MAN SD200 ex-Berlin and for a few years it was the image of the service in a city that was becoming one of the main tourist centers in Europe, for this reason the TMB Foundation added it to its collection.
Due to the high demand for the activity, we were joined by another sightseeing bus: a MAN NL202 preserved by Viserveis, ex-TMB 8019, one of the first 20 low-floor buses in Barcelona acquired in 1992, refurbished as a sightseeing bus by Sercar in 2007. An interesting vehicle with impressive audio equipment that was fully enjoyed by the joyful passengers.
