HISTORY

Start of service: 1982 (EMT de Tarragona 33)
Withdrawal: 2006 (Forbus 5)

This bus is a Pegaso 5081/1 with Unicar U-75 bodywork. It was acquired by Travé in 1982 together with her sister nº 32 to serve Tarragona's urban routes. The city created its own municipal EMT in 1991 which introduced new buses.  Nºs 32 and 33 would be withdrawn and sold, the first went to Ávila's urban service (to be donated some years later to Sahara) and the  latter to Forbus, where it was renumbered 5 and repainted with the livery of Valls urban service (see report in www.autobusesbcn.tk here).

Nº5 was still in service in year 2006 but only as replacement vehicle, and the arrival of a new unit  (nº 7) would mean its withdrawal. Forbus manager agreed to donate the bus for preservation to Mr. Lluís Cuesta, an operation that came into effect in February 2006.

Once by the new owner the allover advertising that provided the bus with the nickname "La Cirereta" (= little cherry) was torn out to allow  technical inspections to be passed periodically.  The minibus would be shown to the bus fans on 25/06/2006 at the Parc de l'Hostal del Fum and  later it would participate in the  Ist Sabadell's Bus Rally (2007), in the Centenary of buses in Barcelona and also in the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of TUS. Her last outing would be the recreation of Barcelona's route 91  (la Monyos). Mechanical trouble and their corresponding isolated amendments would not perform as expected ,so it became necessary to start thinking about a comprehensive overhauling which would begin in year 2008. At present, a full repainting has been carried out and the bus in now waiting for a mechanical overhaul previous to the Historic Vehicle certification. (December 2011).

This bus is available for shootings or similar. Call telf. 0034 658.385.240.
